I’ve had the idea for Finvincible rattling around in my head for years.
Finvincible = financially invincible. It’s a bold mission.
I joined the retail financial services profession back in 2000, after graduating from Uni where I studied Business Administration.
At the time, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. Uni itself was accidental; I wasn’t exactly a star pupil at school, and it was only when I moved into the more vocational field of business and finance that things started to click.
Joining the family business in 2002, I became a financial adviser.
With my young age a barrier to working with multi-million-pound clients, I quickly realised I needed to get two things:
1 – Proper qualifications. This D-grade student worked his butt off to become a Chartered Financial Planner within five years, gaining my second Chartered title (Chartered Wealth Manager) a few years later.
2 – Profile as an ‘expert’. I started writing for trade and consumer publications, appearing on the radio as a guest expert, and then writing books. My first book, The Money Tree, was published by Pearson Prentice Hall back in 2006.
Since then, I’ve worked hard to grow the family business, which today looks after more than £400 million on behalf of our clients. We’re a team of 15 superstars working from two offices, one in Surrey and one in Hampshire.
While I don’t advise clients anymore (I stepped back from advising in 2019 to focus on my media work and growing my second business, a marketing communications agency), I wanted to launch Finvincible to share my two-decades worth of financial planning experience and insight.
What to expect from Finvincible
This website is all about building your levels of financial resilience. I want to make you financially invincible, or Finvincible.
In the first instance, that means sharing the latest personal finance news, along with my take on what the stories mean for your money.
When I wrote my first book, my editor cleverly coined my catchphrase: “When it comes to your money, the more you know, the faster it can grow.”
Knowledge is power, especially when it comes to financial stuff. By sharing knowledge here, I’ll empower you to make better financial decisions, making you wealthier as a result.
And what not to expect
There’s no advice here, only information. That’s an important (legal) distinction to make.
Advice is personal, tailored to your circumstances and goals. What I share here on Finvincible is only ever for information purposes.
In other words, don’t sue me, bro.
This website and its contents are not regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority. For that reason, I won’t cross the line and talk about retail investment products here.
If you need advice, seek advice from a professional adviser, preferably an independent financial adviser.
How does this website make its money?
Where we share affiliate links which earn us a commission (if you use them), we’ll be crystal clear about that.
The same goes for sponsored posts. No sneaky stuff here.
